Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have declared they're at a pivotal moment in their work during their first joint public outing in ages. The duo delivered a video message focusing on the importance of protecting children online, which was showcased at a UN conference in Colombia dedicated to halting violence against kids.
This marks their first shared appearance since their much-talked-about tour of Colombia last August. Since that time, they've been spotted out separately, despite Meghan's previous comment that she and Harry are inseparable, like "salt and pepper".
Insiders suggest their individual ventures reflect a new direction in their projects. Speaking about their commitment to child safety online, Harry stated: "We are at a crossroads", emphasising the need for a revamped strategy to safeguard children.
He highlighted the critical timing for turning awareness into tangible action. As Harry speaks, Meghan looks on, later adding her thoughts: "My husband and I recognise that today's reality is marked by greater connectivity and advanced technology, which, of course, has many positives. However, it also compels us to better understand how digital violence against children is manifesting itself in this age.
"At the Archewell Foundation, we engage with young people, families and experts worldwide, learning about how every aspect of a child's life - from their livelihood to their physical and mental well-being - now operates within an online economy that has both the power to shape and misshape our connections."
In the video, Meghan is pictured with her hair cascading over her shoulders, sporting a navy blazer, alongside Harry who cuts a dashing figure in a shirt complemented by a jacket. Both don a poppy on their attire, signalling the upcoming Remembrance Sunday in the UK.
The timing of the video's release is also noteworthy, closely following the election of Donald Trump as the new president of the United States – an event undoubtedly catching the keen interest of Harry and Meghan as they anticipate his first steps upon assuming office. Trump did not hold back during the electoral race, regularly targeting the Sussexes with biting remarks.
With Trump's victory, the future could bring significant shifts for Harry and Meghan, especially after Trump previously intimated he might expel the Duke from the US. Amid the recent furore surrounding his visa, which grants him residency in California, Harry has been embroiled in controversy related to his disclosed use of illegal substances like marijuana, cocaine, and psychedelic mushrooms, as revealed in his contentious book 'Spare'.
A legal action brought forward by the Heritage Foundation, a conservative group, is insisting the US Government unveil details concerning the Duke's visa application to clarify if his drug history was indeed acknowledged.
