OPP investigating manhole covers, sewer grates being removed in Deseronto

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are seeking information from the public

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are seeking information from the public after a spate of incidents involving the theft of utility service maintenance hole (manhole) covers and sewer grates in Deseronto.

According to the Lennox and Addington (L&A) County Detachment of the OPP, police are currently investigating "a rash of manhole covers and sewer grates being removed in the community of Deseronto, Ontario."

"Three young teens have been observed on security video, but so far police have been unable to identify them," the OPP said in a press release on Tuesday, May 16, 2023.

"These incidents could potentially be very serious as it could cause significant damage to vehicles, bikes, or pedestrians. These events remain under investigation at this time."

As a result, police are seeking information from members of the public who may have witnessed these events.
